Lola's, my name but being called it in comments by people I don't know is a bit creepy, to be honest. I'm a fresh graduate of Mills College in Oakland, where I earned with my sweat, blood, and tears, a very respectable BA. Considering I'm the first one in my family to do such a thing, I'm quite proud of it. And in a year or so, I'll be off to graduate school in England.

Although I'm not a huge believer in astrology or anything of the sort, being agnostic, I pretty much mesh well within the characteristics of my sign, Virgo. I have a huge tendency to be blunt and say what I feel and think, whether someone really cares to hear it or not. I'm passionate about the things I value and I don't keep that hidden from people or quiet it for the sake of cohesion.

I relate more or less to the Goth subculture but as I have been exposed to more and more Goth people, I have had to really consider if it's where I want to be. I think I fit in more with the nerdy/geeky crowd indefinately, as you can probably tell by my name and icons. Of all the philosophies I've thus far examined (I'm not a philosopher, fair warning), the philosophies of the Slytherin House are the ones I most admire and feel akin to. I talk about it fairly regularly and I relate to it a lot. I hate that it's, not misunderstood, but not completely understood by those of a binary understanding.

If you want to add, you should know a few things. First, this is not a sex journal. I have an interest in human sexuality and for some odd reason many interpret this to mean that, because I am biologically female, an interest in sex must mean I have an interest in having sex with anybody. I don't. So if that's your intention, kindly piss off.

Secondly, if you ask to add me, I would like to have the vaguest clue as to who you are. And I mean actual text, not a hodgepodge of completely random rainbow love banners, awards, gifs, whatever. I'd like some information, please.

My posts are usually a pretty decent four paragraphs long. I don't write every day, I write maybe once or twice a week. I write about personal things. What's going on in my life, how I feel, rants, my goals, etc.

One thing I should get out in the open is that you should never hesitate to tell me how you feel, because I will not hesitate to tell you how I feel. I bolded that because it merits notice. I will be giving you my opinion if I feel strongly, whether you want it or not. If you cannot handle that, do. not. add. me. Just because we may disagree about something, does not mean we can't be friends or that I'm going to grudge you.

That said, I love having new LJ friends and reading about different perspectives. So long as you're open enough to hear my strong opinions and deal with my stubborness, we'll get along great. Leave a comment on my friends-only entry and explain a bit about yourself.
